The WHo

A favorite of many; the Who went from the British Invasion, Rock Operas, to selling out multiple arenas in the 70’s.  Clearly icons in the Rock world, the Hall of Fame would be vacant without them.

Inducted in 1990.  From London, England

Roger Daltrey (vocals), John Entwistle (bass), Keith Moon (drums), Pete Townshend (guitar)

Should they be in the Hall of Fame?

Considering that only Frank Zappa and Bob Dylan rank higher than the Who on my list of all-time favorite rock artists, it would be easy for me to topple into overheated blather as to why this sublime band indeed deserves to be in the Hall.Suffice to say that its kinetic eruption during the 1960s British Invasion, followed by a decade's worth of continual artistic growth and exploration that echoed the hopes, frustrations, and yearnings of a generation and that proved to be hugely influential, mark the Who as one of the most important rock bands ever. Not to mention that, at its height, the Who was one of the most explosive live acts in rock history, combining pure energy and raw aggression into a transformative, transcendent shared concert experience. That live ability diminished only slightly even after the band peaked. I was fortunate enough to see the Who during its 1982 "farewell& quot; tour, and that concert is one of the highlights of my life. Those who were in the Oakland Arena that night know it was magic. What I'd like to emphasize here is the contribution of the Who's unsung member, John Entwistle, the "Quiet One" who stood stock-still on stage while all the others whirled about in a frenzy, but from whose mighty fingers poured some of the greatest bass playing in rock history. "The Ox" played with the facility of a lead instrumentalist , performing complex rhythmic and melodic duties with flawless fluidity as drummer Keith Moon flew over his kit and guitarist Pete Townshend hammered chords and lead lines into the ground. And when Entwistle got to step out as a bass soloist

iobviously one of the greatest rock groups ever. easily top ten. at one point part of the mt rushmore of rock bands with zepp and the beatles adn stones. their legacy has nto lasted as well as the other however. i still might argue they are the # 4 all time group but they are definitley being pushed at keeping that positon. and to be honest as much as CSI is helping their ntoriety and sales it is not helping their legacy.

Although his career Points per Game average is less than six, and he never finishes a season averaging a double figure in points, it was Ben Wallace’s punishing defense that makes him a Hall of Fame candidate. Wallace is a four time NBA Defensive Player of the Year and despite being a little undersized at Center, was an amazing rebounder…
