Cream

In what essentially was a “supergroup”, the British Blues Rock band Cream could make the case for having the most talent assembled on one stage; a very impressive boast for a band with only three members.  Their work was among the best the last half of the 60’s had to offer and their first two albums (Fresh Cream and Disreali Gears) should be considered required entries to any true album collector.

Cream was a mathematical impossibilit y: the sum of the parts was greater than the whole.

Hugely influential, though, even if you have to pick and choose from the band's albums, particularly the live (or half-live) ones, for the best tracks. Which doesn't mean that I don't still get off on "I Feel Free" or the live version of "Rollin' and Tumblin'," because I certainly do. I'll even rejoice in "Passing the Time" or "Doing that Scrapyard Thing."
