In the early 70’s, Cat Stevens established his mark as a brilliant songwriter capable of delivering hits on both sides of the Atlantic. His songs were deep, personal and introspective and to many who were followers of the Singer/Songwriter movement, Cat Stevens was considered a member of its elite. Few could be considered so powerful with such a soft singing voice. Certainly, one to march to his own tune, Stevens turned his back on the music industry, converted to Islam and has until recently has been largely out of the public eye.

Inducted in 2014.

"Peace and understanding and most importantly faith are the words that describe Mr. Stevens..."

Salman Rushdie may feel a bit different about that.

Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam should be shunned by all peace-loving people until the end of his days.

Singer-songwrit ers always have a good chance of popping on the ballot after years of being ignored (Leonard Cohen, Tom Waits, Neil Diamond). He'll make it.

I can't believe he's not in there already - but that seems to be a common sentiment with many a performer/artis t/band. Cat Stevens is one of the staples of my musical being - I cut my teeth on his music and I say - PUT HIM IN!!!

Cat Stevens (or Yusuf Islam) is the ultimate troubadour musician. His music is wonderful stuff, his influence is undeniable, as is his album sales, hit singles, and fanbase. And although he stepped away from music for many years, he's back in the game again, and I'm glad. Of course he deserves a place in the Hall. I just hope he gets in as Cat Stevens!

Are you kidding me? Talk about a no brainer. If it weren't for bigotry and fear he would already be in. His legacy will be around forever and I do not just mean his music. Peace and understanding and most importantly faith are the words that describe Mr. Stevens and if you don't understand that then go join Mr. Nugent in his red neck hall of fame. I mean for God's sake he dropped it all because of his beliefs. And even if you don't believe the same way he does you need to respect that. But most importantly think about the songs. Peace Train, Wild World. Morning Has Broken. Does anyone have more classics than Mr. Stevens? And with a better message? You know you love his music even if your stupid minister broke all of your albums when he turned Muslim. Put Cat in.
