To some this is a controversial induction, but Madonna’s long and fruitful career is a blueprint on how to stay relevant and productive over multiple decades. She may be primarily a Rock and Dance star, but the long running chameleon has delved into so many genres she should not be pigeonholed. Despite what we think many of our readers think, we feel she deserved to be a first year inductee.

Inducted in 2008. From Bay City, Michigan, U.S.A.

Didnt bother me, she always had more of a raw rock voice than a smooth pop one and i do like some of her 80s tunes.

It will be argued forever that Madonna is a POP star and not a ROCK star, but you gotta give her credit for her staying-powe r, massive success and influence. And she *does*, in fact, incorporate rock elements into her music. Yes, Madonna' s induction will always be controversia l I suppose, but I can live with it.
