  • N.W.A. and Their Family Reunion

Considered one of the pioneers of Gangsta Rap, N.W.A. was not just among the first of their kind, they might just be considered the best.

In what would become an All Star roster that featured Ice Cube, Dr. Dre & Eazy-E, N.W.A. rapped of life that celebrated the lifestyle of the ghetto. Raps about violence and sex were common place and their explicit lyrics garnered them much attention (both positive and negative). To this day, their booming intensity can be heard in many of the Gangsta rappers that followed. With only two albums of note, it can be argued that their discography is limited but there are other Hall of Fame entries whose output was less. Regardless, it can be argued that N.W.A. belongs in on the strength of their first album alone, as it was one of those efforts that made audiences; critics of any race take notice and shift the focal point of music to the streets of L.A.

Considering the very high profile of Ice Cube and Dr. Dre, there is a lot of speculation that their wait for entry will not be long.

It never has been about amount of records sold (see YARDBIRDS).
It is about Influence and creating new directions .

Cant stand their music, but yes they do deserve to be in

Dr. Dre will definitely be seriously considered as a solo artist. I doubt if Eazy E will, though.

EAzy-E and Dr. Dre should be in solo aswell as NWA

With one of their songs titled "F*ck The Police", these potty mouthed punks do not deserve ANY consideration for the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. In my opinion, if N.W.A. is EVER inducted, the RRHF (committee) will have lost whatever integrity or decency (what little they have left) all the while ignoring the legitimate acts that are far more worthy for enshrinement that have never even been nominated, much less inducted.

U guys can't be serious. NWA is the FURTHEST thing from rock music. At least Run DMC and Public Enemy collaborated with rock artists, NWA will NEVER be in the Rock and Roll HOF.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame shot itself in the foot right away by calling itself the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. At the very least, it should be called the Rock and Soul Hall of Fame; of the 10 original inductees in 1986, three of them--James Brown, Ray Charles, and Sam Cooke--fall under the "soul/R&B" category. The Hall only became more expansive from then on.

The Hall really should be called the Primarily Western Popular Music Since the Mid-1950s, with Recognition of the Influences on That Music, Hall of Fame, but that doesn't really roll off the tongue.

N.W.A. released only one album that mattered, but so did the Sex Pistols, and both acts altered the course of popular music's development. N.W.A. should be in for that reason, which applies to the Sex Pistols as well.

It's already a popular music hall of fame rather than a rock 'n' roll hall, so yes, put NWA in. Run-DMC, Beasties and PE are in, so why not? (BTW, I hope the Hall is taking a serious look at the best of the late-70s "street" DJs from NYC. Those guys brought rap to life and they should be recognized just as Robert Johnson and Hank Williams, Sr. are recognized.)

They should get their own Hall of Fame then. It is INDEED called the ROCK & ROLL Hall of Fame.

Oh fuck right off. God damn rock purists who can't stand the fact that other genres deserve the same recognition.
