gold star for USAHOF

RIP: Bob Welch

The World of Rock and Roll has anothe casualty as former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and 70's Solo star, Bob Welch passed away today at the age of 66 to a self inflicted gun shot to the chest.  Welch was with Fleetwood Mac in the "transition years" of 1971 to 1974 and was not part of the bands mainstream explosion in 1975.  Welch did however have success on his own with the release of "French Kiss" which yielded the hits "Ebony Eyes and "Sentimental Lady".

Welch was snubbed by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as he was not part of the Fleetwood Mac lineup that was inducted.  This was the case even though there were recognized members of the band prior to Welch's arrival (who were not part of the mid-70's success) who were inducted.  At the time of the induction, Welch was estranged from Mick Fleetwood, who likely would have had the clout to have seen him enshrined with the rest of the group.

RIP: Bob.... You will be missed.
