Not in Hall of Fame News

It’s that time again for us at Notinhalloffame.com. As you may have noticed, our main logo always features four people/artists who have been considered by us to be egregious snubs by their respective Halls of Fame.  Some of those images have not changed, as hockey broadcaster, Don Cherry has been part of the logo from day one.  Some, we don’t expect to change, as we will be very surprised if Barry Bonds will ever be chosen by the Baseball Hall of fame, though surprises do happen, such as when Randy Savage was selected to the WWE Hall of Fame. Saying…
It was announced today that Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Andy Bathgate, died today at the age of 83.  Bathgate began his 17 year career with the New York Rangers, and in the 1950’s, the forward would become the team’s star and primary scoring threat.  Bathgate would be a Second Team All Star in the 1957/58 season and was the runner-up for the Hart Trophy, but the season after he would win the Hart and would set a personal best with 88 Points.  His star would continue to shine with the Rangers and he would tie for the league lead…
It is a sad day for the Rocky Universe. We here at Notinhalloffame.com and specifically our Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame are mourning the loss of actor, Tony Burton, who played Duke Evers in the Rocky series.  Evers appeared in all six Rocky films, and was introduced as the trainer of World Heavyweight Champion, Apollo Creed. While Duke was never a main character, he was shown as far more than just a trainer as in the first two Rocky films, it was clear by the emotion he exhibited for his client that they were far more than just business associates. …

The Atlanta Braves have announced that Andruw Jones and John Schuerholz will be inducted into their franchise’s Hall of Fame this year. The two new inductees will receive this honor in a pregame ceremony on August 19, prior to their home game against the Washington Nationals.  This brings the total number of inductees to the Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame to thirty. Jones debuted at age 19 for Atlanta and would spend twelve years with the Braves.  Over that period, the Outfielder would make five All Star Games and earn ten consecutive Gold Gloves.  Jones was a very good hitter…
Two new inductors have been named for the upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on April 8. Pioneering rap group, N.W.A., will be inducted by Kendrick Lamar, who has long cited the hip-hop icons as a major influence in his career.  Kid Rock will be on hand to induct the Chicago based band, Cheap Trick. These two superstars will join Lars Ulrich (believed to be inducting Deep Purple) and The Black Keys (believed to be inducting Chicago). We are sure that there will be more news (and potentially drama) with the impending ceremony as it wouldn’t be a…
A few weeks ago, the Pro Football Hall of Fame inducted their latest class, which means one thing for us at Notinhalloffame.com…it is time to revamp our list our top 100 on the football list for next year’s class! Recapping what happened last year, Brett Favre (#1), Marvin Harrison (#3), Ken Stabler (#6), Orlando Pace (#15), Dick Stanfel (#30) and Kevin Greene (#37) were selected along with Eddie DeBartolo Jr. and Tony Dungy were all inducted.  With three of our top ten chosen, a major overhaul at the top has occurred as three new eligible entrants made the top ten.…
It was announced today that Charles Wright, who portrayed, “The Godfather”, “Papa Shango” and Kama Mustapha in the WWE, would be inducted into the promotion’s Hall of Fame. Wright first trained to be a professional wrestler in 1989 and at the insistence of his friend, the Undertaker, he was brought in to the WWF in early 1992.  He was given the persona of Papa Shango, a voodoo priest and he would feud with the Ultimate Warrior.  The Shango character received a mixed reaction from the fans and by 1993 he was sent to the USWA, who had a reciprocal relationship…
Isn’t it always news when Barry Bonds talks about the Baseball Hall of Fame? Bonds was (once again) asked about the Hall of Fame as he is in back in the game as a coach for the Miami Marlins: “God knows I am a Hall of Famer…I know that I'm a Hall of Fame player.  I don't really need to get into that.  I'll leave that to you guys to make that determination. That's not my fraternity.
Another major retirement took place in the NFL as Pittsburgh Steelers Tight End called it a career yesterday. Coming out of the University of Virginia, the Steelers drafted Miller with their first pick (30th Overall) in the 2005 Draft.  Miller paid immediate dividends catching 39 passes and was named the Steelers Rookie of the Year.  That year, Miller earned the ultimate prize, as Pittsburgh would go on to win Super Bowl XL. Miller would continue with Pittsburgh for the duration of his career and three years later would win another Super Bowl ring, though in that game he would have…
