Not in Hall of Fame
Last week the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced their Finalists for the Class of 2016.

As such our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is doing the same thing.

The Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was designed to celebrate the bands that not exactly real.  While some have gone on actual tour, the origin behind the musician is fictional.

Last year in the first full class inducted, The Blues Brothers, Spinal Tap and The Monkees were chosen as the result of a year long online poll.  We have now reached the final fifteen finalists for the Class of 2016.

The 15 Finalists are:

1.  Alvin & The Chipmunks

Say what you want about these anthropomorphic rodents, but they have had multiple hit movies and went number one on Billboard twice.  The Chipmunks were Finalists last year.

2.  The Archies

The Archies had a surprise number one hit with “Sugar Sugar”, which has to be considered a classic in the bubblegum genre.

3.  The Be-Sharps

Comprised of Homer Simpson, Principal Skinner, Barney Gumble and Apu Nahasspeemapetilion, the Be-Sharps won a Grammy Award for the Outstanding Soul, Spoken Word, or Barbershop Album of the Year.

4. Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem

The house band for the Muppets narrowly missed out on an induction last year as they finished fourth in 2015 Finalist voting.

5. Gorillaz

A very successful virtual band, Gorillaz is the creation of Blur frontman, Damon Albarn.  Arguably, Gorillaz “blurs” the line between real and fictional more than any other Semi-Finalist.

6. Hannah Montana

Hannah Montana was one of the most successful Disney shows of all time and launched Miley Cyrus to the stratosphere.

7. Jerome “Chef” McElroy

Played by the late Isaac Hayes, “Chef” taught the children of South Park right from wrong.

8. Marvin Berry & The Starlighters

Marvin Berry, “the cousin of Chuck Berry” performed with his band, the Starlighters at the Enchantment Under the Sea dance in Back to the Future.

9. Michigan J. Frog

The mascot for Warner Brothers is arguably the least contemporary Semi-Finalist as the frog appears to only know Broadway songs from before 1950.

10. Phoebe Buffay

Phoebe Buffay may have never made it out of Central Perk but “Smelly Cat” lives on in Pop Culture.

11. Sex Bob-omb

Sex Bob-omb was the band helmed by Scott Pilgrim, who had the most literal battle of the bands in cinematic history.

12. The School of Rock

From the film of the same name, this is one of two entries featuring Jack Black.

13. Tenacious D

Tenacious D, the side project of Jack Black and Kyle Gass has released multiple albums and had a fictionalized movie on their backstory, “The Pick of Destiny”.

14. The Wonders

From “That Thing You Do”, The Wonders had one hit (this making them one hit wonders) in the early 1960’s.

15. Wyld Stallyns

If Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is to believed, Wyld Stallyns are the band that brought peace to the world.

In December, the second full class will be announced, as the top two vote getters will enter the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as the fourth and fifth inductee.

Voting can be found here: http://www.notinhalloffame.com/ficitious-rock-and-roll-voting/2016-final-round.
