Perhaps better known now for being Keith Emerson’s band before Emerson, Lake & Palmer, the Nice had the distinction of being one of the early Progressive Rock Bands of note. Their blend of Psychedelic Rock with Jazz and Classical led to unique arrangements and though they were not a hit with critics or with a large assortment of fans, the groundwork they helped build was very important in launching the Progressive Rock genre as a mainstream musical option.

The Nice definitely helped lay down the blueprint for Progressive Rock, not to mention Keith Emerson' s later career with ELP. And they were definitely influential in the Progressive Rock category. But we know all too well how the Hall Of Fame voters feel about Prog Rock in general (with Pink Floyd and Genesis the only two exceptions so far), and also, The Nice never really rose above cult status, at least here in the States. And finally, their music, as interesting and bold as it is, is all over the map. In other words, an acquired taste. Emerson Lake & Palmer *might* get inducted someday....m ight. But The Nice....prob ably not.
