Malone remained a consistent presence for the Penguins, where he had two 50 Points and one 60 Point season in the next four years. His run with Pittsburgh ended when he was traded to the Hartford Whalers in 1983. As a Penguin, he scored 364 Points with a .74 PPG.
He would return to the Penguins as a Head Scout and would win two Stanley Cups there (1991 & 1992).
