gold star for USAHOF

42. Jay Pandolfo

42. Jay Pandolfo

Jay Pandolfo was the 32nd Overall Pick in 1993, which occurred a year into his tenure at Boston University.  The native of Winchester, Massachusetts, stayed with the Terriers for three more years, and as a senior, he was the Hockey East Player of the Year.

Pandolfo was not a skilled player, but he was already a seasoned performer who filled a defensive grinding role even as a rookie.  He wasn't going to score often, and it was joked that he had more stitches than goals. Pandolfo’s career-high in Points was only 27, but again his work on the backend that kept him with New Jersey for over 800 Games.

A two-time Stanley Cup Champion with New Jersey, Pandolfo had five consecutive years where he received votes for the Frank J. Selke Trophy, peaking at third in 2006-07. Coincidentally, he was fourth in Lady Byng voting that season.
