gold star for USAHOF

28. Todd Marchant

28. Todd Marchant

Todd Marchant played Center for the Edmonton Oilers for ten seasons, and he was considered to be one of the fastest skaters in the NHL.  Marchant would join Edmonton when he was traded from the New York Rangers for Craig MacTavish.  While the trade worked out for MacTavish in that he would win a Stanley Cup that year, he signed with the Philadelphia Flyers in the off-season, and Marchant played 678 Regular Season Games with the Oilers.

Marchant was very good defensively and would finish in the top ten in Frank J. Selke voting three times.  He was incredibly skilled on the penalty kill, and 20 of his 28 Short-Handed Goals came with the Oilers.  As he was more defensive minded, Marchant did not score often, but he did have a 60 Point season in 2002-03, his last with Edmonton.

Marchant's Oiler career ended when he signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2003, and the Stanley Cup that he missed out in '94 with New York would come to him when he was with Anaheim in 2007.  As an Edmonton Oiler, Marchant scored 343 Points.
