25. Steve Smith

25. Steve Smith

Steve Smith might be best known for an error he caused in the 1986 Smythe Division Finals.  With the score tied at two, Smith collected the puck from behind his net, and when he went to clear it, he deflected it off his Goalie, Grant Fuhr, and the puck wound up his own net.  The Oilers would lose the game and the series, and Smith was labeled a "bonehead" by Oilers fans.

We remember him for a lot more than that.

Smith was a strong physical presence who was not afraid to use his size.  He was a good player on both sides of the puck.  The Defenseman would have three seasons where he went over 40 Points, two of them going over 50.  Smith was a member of three of their Stanley Cup wins (1987, 1988 & 1990), and he was named to the All-Star Team in 1991.  His run in Edmonton ended when he was traded to Chicago after the 1990-91 Season.
