26. Erik Johnson

26. Erik Johnson

Erik Johnson has been one of the better American Defenseman in the NHL while he was with Colorado, a long period that lasted from 2011 to 2023.

Arriving from St. Louis in a 2011 trade, Johnson brought a booming shot from the point and has logged a lot of minutes as a shutdown blueliner.  Johnson has had two seasons with ten or more goals for the Avalanche, and he would have a 39 Point season in 2013-14.  Following that highwater mark, Johnson had five more seasons of at least 20 Points, with seven in total.  A rock solid defender, Johnson won the Stanley Cup in 2022, and had a total of 246 Points before he joined the Buffalo Sabres in 2023.
