Yes please never make a list about female players. I'm not trying to be a sexist here, but I really don't care about womens hockey.

With all due respect, and despite some on point opinion differences I have nothing but respect, stuff like this has to go beyond one single person's personal biases.

Knuckles, your definately right. Let me rephrase:You guys can make a list about womens hockey or add female players to the regular list if you want, it's just I wouldn't do it because I don't follow women's hockey. Even during the Olympics.

And I don't think you're too far off from the normal sports fan, let alone someone who follows and knows their hockey such as yourself. I have a vague idea whhere to begin, with players like Cammi Granato and Manon Rheaume, but to rank women's hockey players woould almost be akin to rating women's boxers. The biggest argument is, plain and simple, the history is not there. Nor is the stage. There is the Olympics and that's about it for anything even close to resonating.I am not one to dissuade from a Machiavellian task. Rheaume is the only female player with even a case to be added to the list. And only because of her fame, not because of her skills.

I'm pretty sure Granato (and Angela James) got in last year and those are the only girls I'd put in so far. Obviously when Wickenheiser retires she'll get in but that's still a good 6 or 7 years away. I think there are about 40 male players elligible now who should make it ahead of Rheaume. Heck, I'd put Peter Forsberg in ahead of Rheaume and you know how much I don't like that guy.One question, why are we having a hockey discussion in a basketball forum?

There may be more than 40. And I had a major crush on Rheaume.I was asking myself that very same question. So, to bring it back, I'm not liking the finalists this year, too much. Chris mullin and Dennis Rodman are the only players I can really get behind, and neither is a slam dunk.

I think since Miller isn't going to get in (and CC, please make Miller #1 on your list which I hope eventually will be made,) I basically think Rodman's going to be a shoe-in. I would also love to see Mullin get in, the Dream Team has 10 players in the hall of fame and we should make it 11. As for Christian Laettner, well, I don't think he belongs. But looking back on it, how did Laettner get selected to the Dream Team over Hakeen Olajuwon, who despite being born in Nigeria, played for the United States. I don't think Jamaal Wilkes belongs, but what about Ralph Sampson? As an NBA player alone no but his College career might push him over the edge...Tex Winter, after all, was just an assistant coach, albeit a great one, and I didn't even remember any of the other 7 nominees.

I have to recheck who the non-NBA players are. There always seems to be more elected than NBA players. Laettner does not belong. 4 years of great collegiate play should not trump or be considered the equal to 12 years of solid to good NBA play. Especially now when there actually is a college basketball HOF. He was on the Dream Team because they simply wanted to take one college player, which is why Olajuwon did not go in 1992. I can't endorse Samspon. He was a top player when healthy, but I think the great when playing but hurt so much NBA career/outstanding college career line begins with Bill Walton. Sampson falls short there. It just bugs me that every NBA candidate was not as good as Miller. Or Artis Gilmore. Or even Spencer Haywood.
