The Washington Redskins won three Super Bowls within the 1980s and early 90s, but unlike most great teams, the Offensive Line was considered the star attraction. They were the elite group that did not just win three Super Bowls but protected three different ones to a title. This group were the "Hogs," and the best of the group was Russ Grimm.

Grimm was an original "Hog," and he played his entire pro career with the Redskins after he was chosen in the Third Round from Pitt in 1981. Settling in on Left Guard, Grimm was a star on the rise, and he was a huge component in Washington's first Super Bowl win. In the next four seasons, Grimm was regarded as the game's best Left Guards, going to the Pro Bowl in all of those seasons, and a First Team All-Pro in the first one. That year, Grimm was second in the NFL in Approximate Value (18), and the Hogs were amongst the most popular units in Football.

Grimm's injuries piled on, and he was more of a role player from 1987 until he retired in 1991. While his skills on the gridiron were not the same, his leadership was unquestionable, and he was still integral in their next two Super Bowl wins.

Grimm entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2010.
