The defensive gem was a superstar in college, drafted Third Overall in 1984 from Michigan State. Banks immediately fit into the Giants system and fan base, and he was an immediate star in the Big Apple. The Linebacker was an All-Rookie in 1984, and the Giants "D" became a force to be reckoned with.
The Linebacker helped New York won Super Bowl XXI, and the season after, he put forth one of the greatest defensive seasons ever by a Giant. Banks was a top ten finisher in Approximate Value, and also was a Pro Bowl and First Team All-Pro. Positioned at the Outside Linebacker slot, Banks was not a sack-master but controlled the interior with skill.
Banks was with the Giants until 1992, and he would assist them in their second Super Bowl Title. He later joined the Washington Redskins as a Free Agent.
As a Giant, Banks had 36 Sacks and 627 Tackles, and was elected to the team's Ring of Honor in 2011.
