White was a good Punter but was set to be the heir apparent once Staubach retired, which he did in 1979. White may not have had the career of Staubach, but he more than held his own in the NFL. A Pro Bowl Selection in 1981, White took Dallas to three straight NFC Championships but would lose them all. He lost his starting job briefly to Gary Hogeboom but would win it back shortly after.
While he did not win a Super Bowl as a Quarterback (he did as their Punter), he was one of the better QBs of the NFC in the 1980s and threw for 21,259 Yards and 155 Touchdowns. He finished with a won-loss record of 62-30 and was in the top ten in Passer Rating five times.
