Despite those accomplishments Woodhead would not be drafted in 2008 but he would sign with the New York Jets as a free agent. He saw limited action and was released in September of 2010 and he would be picked up by their division rival, the New England Patriots and like always Head Coach Bill Belichick found another gem as Woodhead found a role and helped them reach Super Bowl XLVI. Woodhead would score a touchdown in that game during their loss to the New York Giants.
He would then sign with the San Diego Chargers and he would have two seasons (2013 & 2015) where he exceeded the 1,000 Yard mark in Yards from Scrimmage. Woodhead played one more season after in Baltimore and retired with 4,936 Yards from Scrimmage.
