It is kind of sad that Andre Rison is best known for the time that his then girlfriend, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes burned down his mansion. Of course, Rison always was always a controversial figure; he was also a damned good Wide Receiver.
Andre Rison had his best years in Atlanta where he was a Pro Bowl Selection four out of his five years there. He was the Falcons best offensive weapon, leading the league in Touchdown Receptions in the 1993 season. In fact, his first five years in the NFL were about as statistically good as any Wide Receiver had ever had. After his stint, with Atlanta, Andre Rison was still putting up decent numbers, but controversy followed him everywhere. He bounced from team to team and though still very good, he was seen by some as a journeyman.
Andre Rison has the stats to match up with other Hall of Fame inductees and prime candidates but it is very possible that his off field issues may bring his stock down to some of the voters. He deserves a lot better than that.
