  • : Famous Springfield Jazz Musician, Bleeding Gums Murphy was the musical muse for Lisa Simpson. He appeared on the Cosby Show (as one of the “four” grandfathers) appeared on Steve Allen’s Tonight Show and acquired his nickname because he never visited the dentist. Murphy’s lone album, Sax on the Beach was considered a classic in the fictitious Springfield Jazz genre, well at least it was to Lisa.
  • TV Show/Movie Appeared: The Simpsons (1990-95)
  • Actors: Ron Taylor and Daryl L.Coley
  • Songs you may remember: Sax on the Beach
  • Why you should vote:: We are a sucker for anyone (even fictitiously) that appeared on the Cosby Show.
  • Why you should not vote:: As mentioned in the 137th Episode, along with Dr. Marvin Monroe, he was never “popular”.
