“Super John” remained with the Nets when they moved to the ABA and he was averaging 20.8 Points per Game before the strapped team traded him to fellow ABA transfer, Indiana. It was a short-lived stay in the Hoosier State as he was traded back midway through the next season and averaged 29.5 Point in the 33 Games left that year. Williamson had a 22.2 PPG in his last full season with the Nets (1978/79) before being traded again halfway through the year, this time to Washington.
Williamson averaged 17.8 Points per Game as a Net, a very good number but like other Net Shooting Guards his advanced metrics were poor and he actually had three seasons with the team where he had a negative VORP. That can’t be ignored on a list like this.
