From Princeton of the Ivy League Brian Taylor would become the starting Point Guard for the New York Nets where he would dazzle fans on the way to winning the American Basketball Association Rookie of the Year Award.

Taylor would continue to improve, especially of the defensive side of the rock.  He would lead the ABA in Steals and Steals per Game in the 1974/75 season and was named a First Team All-Defensive Team that season and the one after.  Taylor had a 14.0 PPG as a Net and he was the starting Point Guard when the franchise won the ABA Title in 1974 and 1976.
