#18. Rudy Gobert: Minnesota Timberwolves
14 Oct
2019

Last year, we said that this would be a "crossroads" year for Rudy Gobert in regards to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and if we were right, the Frenchman took a wrong turn.  The Timberwolves gave up a lot to get the three-time Defensive Player of the Year, but his first year in Minnesota saw a significant regression, a non-All-Star year, and little change for Minnesota's pursuit of a title.  If Gobert can't turn it around this season, the narative on him will be that of a franchise killer, especially if his former teammate in Utah, Donovan Mitchell, shines brighter.  We love defense here at Notinhalloffame, but Gobert was not even All-Defensive last year, breaking his six-year streak.  Tony Parker might be the lone Frenchman in the Hall for a lot lobger than we thought.  Pre-2019-20 Rank: #36, Pre-2020-21 Rank #33, Pre-2021-22 Rank: #19, Pre-2021-22 Rank: #16
