In the up and down career of Fernando Rodney, the two seasons that the Dominican closer spent in Tampa Bay were mostly up.

Rodney signed with the Rays as a Free Agent in 2012, after nine seasons in Detroit and the Los Angeles Angels.  He was given the role of the Rays closer, and he rewarded Tampa with the best season of his life.  Rodney had 48 Saves, and a 0.60 ERA with a 0.777 WHIP.  He was fifth in Cy Young voting and thirteenth in MVP voting.  His 74.2 Innings Pitched would also be a career-high.

Rodney had 37 Saves in 2013 and helped the Rays reach the post-season, but he sought other pastures and signed with the Seattle Mariners as a Free Agent.  With the Rays, he had 85 Saves and finished 120 Games.
