Silver King (born Charles Frederick Koenig) may have adopted a somewhat eccentric name but it fit his equally unique pitching style.

King pitched sidearm without a windup and while he was only with St. Louis for three seasons it was essentially two good ones and one monstrous one that propels him on this list.  In 1888, he went to the mound 66 times compiling a 45-20 record, where he was the American Association leader in Wins, ERA (1.63), Innings Pitched (584.2), FIP (2.38), WHIP (0.874) and SO/BB (3.39).  He would go 112-48 for St. Louis over his three seasons.
