The right-hander seemed to live and die by his curveball, and in his third season in the bigs (1990), he was undoubtedly living! That year he went 18-9 with a 3.24 ERA, and he was seventh overall in bWAR for Pitchers (5.0) and was ninth in ERA. Hanson also was fourth in both WHIP (1.157) and Innings Pitched (236.0).
That was his best season in Seattle, as he trod water for the last three years in Seattle and would lose 17 Games in 1992. He was traded to the Cincinnati Reds after the 1993 season.
He would later be an All-Star with the Boston Red Sox in 2005.
