Bobby Abreu was the master of plate discipline and the maestro of working a pitch count.  The Venezuelan would get much of his due when he was traded to the New York Yankees, but it was in Philadelphia where he was at his best and a two time All Star who the sabremetricians absolutely loved.

There was a lot to love about Abreu.  Over his 1,353 Games in Philadelphia he had six consecutive seasons where he had at least 170 Hits, 20 Home Runs and 20 Stolen Bases, five of which saw him hit over .300 with an On Base Percentage over .400.  His Slash Line as a Phillie is one of the beloved 3/4/5 metric (.303/.416/.513) and he finished in the top ten in OBP eight times when he played in Philadelphia.  He was also a decent fielder, winning a Gold Glove in 2005.
