The Cleveland Indians knew that Brandon Phillips had an abundance of skills but they gave up on ever seeing that executed at a Major League level.  He was thus traded across the state to Cincinnati, where much to the chagrin of the Tribe, he became the player that he was pegged to be.

Phillips would open the 2006 season as the starting Second Baseman and it was in the following season where he would become a 30-30 player and follow that up with two 20-20 seasons.  An All-Star three times as a Red, Phillips would also dazzle defensively.  He was selected for four Gold Gloves and in his eleven seasons would collect 1,774 Hits.
