The ace of the staff for the Reds throughout the 1960’s, Jim Maloney does not get the love that he should as his accomplishments occurred the decade before the Big Red Machine came into fruition.
Maloney was a two time 20 Game winner who in 1965 threw two no hitters (although one is considered unofficial now as it was an extra innings game). That was the year he went to his only All Star Game, though he certainly could have been named to more. As a Red he recorded 134 wins against 81 Losses with 1,592 Strikeouts, certainly decent numbers for any team.
He played all but 13 of his games with Cincinnati, and was the lone inductee to the Reds Hall of Fame in 1973.
