All of that occurred before he was a member of the Red Sox, but it was with the Red Sox where he had his greatest success. Jensen arrived in a trade from the Senators before the 1954 season, and over the next six years, he would always have at least 20 Home Runs, with five of those years seeing him hit the 100 RBI mark. Jensen would lead the American League in RBIs three times (1955, 1958 & 1959) was twice an All-Star, and in 1958 he would win the MVP. That year, he had a career-high in Home Runs (35), RBIs (122), and OPS (.931).
He retired after 1959, citing a desire to stay with his family in California, but he returned for one year in 1961. That was short-lived as he developed a fear of flying, and he retired for good after that year. Jensen would have 1,089 Hits, 170 Home Runs, 733 RBIs with a Slash Line of .282/.374/.478.Boston inducted Jensen into their Hall of Fame in 2000.
